Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that the 2024 apple auction held at the Cheongsong County Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market closed on May 30.

Since opening the Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market in November 2019, Cheongsong County has handled a total of 13,236 tons of 2024 apples, starting from 1,905 tons in the first year with the 2019 harvest.
This figure represents an approximately sevenfold increase compared to the early days of the market, demonstrating a significant annual rise in the number of farms using the wholesale market.
Cheongsong County plans to lead innovation in local distribution by converting the traditional on-site auction method to a digital online auction system, starting with the 2025 autumn apple harvest.
With the introduction of online auctions, various distribution participants will be able to take part, which is expected to stimulate price competition and have positive effects, such as an increase in farm-gate prices due to the larger volume handled.
Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "We will spare no administrative support so that orchard farmers affected by the recent large-scale wildfire can quickly return to their daily lives and focus on apple production."
The Cheongsong County Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market is scheduled to reopen at the end of August, when shipments of 2025 summer apples begin.
