Now it is time to deliver results.
This is the story of Yuna Yoon, who made her debut on the LPGA Tour this year. On June 6 (local time), she will compete in the ShopRite LPGA Classic at the Bay Course of Seaview in Galloway, New Jersey (par 71, 6,263 yards).
This tournament is one of the rare events on the LPGA Tour to be played as a 54-hole stroke play competition over three days. Among regular tour events, only this tournament and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in September are held over three days. This year, the event carries even more weight as both world No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA) and No. 2 Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand) are participating.
Power hitter Yuna Yoon, who previously played on the KLPGA Tour, has drawn significant attention in her first season on the U.S. stage, but her results have fallen short of expectations. She has played in 10 tournaments but has yet to record a top-10 finish. She has missed the cut four times, highlighting her struggles to adapt to the LPGA Tour. She currently ranks 43rd on the money list ($295,356), 6th in the Rookie of the Year standings (192 points), and 57th in scoring average (71.43).
However, Yuna Yoon showed signs of resurgence at last week's major, the U.S. Women's Open, where she achieved her best finish since turning pro, tying for 14th place. She appears to have adapted to American grass and courses. Her confidence is higher than ever. Yuna Yoon is aiming to become the fourth Korean player to win this tournament, following Se Ri Pak in 1999, Sunhwa Lee in 2006, and In Kyung Kim in 2017.
