Policy Support Fund of 600,000 Won per Child
for Second or Subsequent Middle School Students
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) will officially launch the 'Child-Rearing Voucher Support Program for Families with Multiple Children' on June 10, becoming the first among basic local governments in Busan to do so.
This program aims to ease the financial burden on families with multiple children and address the issue of low birth rates. The foundation for its implementation was established through the revision of the 'Ordinance on Support for Childbirth Promotion and Families with Multiple Children in Gijang County' and consultation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the introduction of a new social security system. The related budget was secured in April this year, completing preparations for the full-scale rollout.
Eligible recipients are second or subsequent children who are middle school students (or out-of-school youths of equivalent age) and have been registered residents living with their guardians in Gijang County for at least one year as of June 1, 2025.
The support amount is 600,000 won per child, provided as a one-time payment in the form of a Dongbaekjeon local currency policy support fund. The issued voucher can be used at Dongbaekjeon-affiliated merchants designated by Gijang County, including academies, hospitals and clinics, and convenience facilities.
Applications can be submitted from June 10 to November 28. Guardians may apply through the Government24 website or at the administrative welfare center of their town or township of residence.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "In an era of low birth rates, it is important to provide practical support for families with multiple children. I hope this voucher program will help with child-rearing, and we will continue to implement various policies to make Gijang County a better place to raise children."
