This section serves as a key axis linking the old downtown and the new town, stretching from near the Haemoro Apartment complex to the Binggrae Factory Five-way Intersection. However, severe congestion has persisted during commuting hours due to the narrow road.

In response, the city has made multifaceted efforts to expand the approximately 384-meter bottleneck section of Migeum-ro from the current two lanes to four lanes. As a result, the city has commenced the detailed design service for the road expansion project, with a total investment of 76 billion KRW, 90% of which is funded by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH).

Additionally, Namyangju City plans to widen the roadway to 20 to 23 meters and improve infrastructure such as sidewalks and drainage facilities on both sides of the road.

With a target completion year of 2029, Namyangju City will hold a resident briefing session in August to gather diverse opinions from local residents. After completing administrative procedures such as compensation, the city aims to begin construction in the second half of 2026, focusing its administrative efforts on this goal.

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "The Migeum-ro expansion project is a long-awaited initiative for our residents and a very important project to improve the core transportation axis connecting the old downtown and Dasan New Town. Through this construction, we expect not only to alleviate traffic congestion but also to provide citizens with a pleasant and safe road environment."

He added, "We will continue to cooperate closely with GH to ensure the project proceeds swiftly and without setbacks."
