On the 4th, the Gwangju Election Committee released a statement titled "Words of Gratitude," saying, "Since the declaration of martial law on December 3 last year, Korean society has endured a dark period across politics, the economy, and society for six months. However, the people took to the streets and ushered in a new dawn. As a result, today we are witnessing a historic moment."

The committee continued, "Lee Jae Myung's victory is the result of the passionate support and desire for change from the citizens of Gwangju and the Korean people. In particular, the overwhelming trust shown in the city of justice, Gwangju, demonstrates that the spirit of the 5·18 Democratization Movement is still alive today."

The committee stated, "Gwangju has always illuminated the path of democracy. Now, it will play a leading role in creating a new Republic of Korea."

The Lee Jae Myung administration outlined three core national tasks: 'Ending insurrection,' 'Restoring livelihoods and achieving economic growth,' and 'National unity and conflict resolution.' The government pledged to make fairness and justice, public welfare, and unity its core values, vowing to realize "a nation where no one is excluded and a government the people can trust."

The committee also reaffirmed its regional commitments. Regarding Gwangju and the Honam region, it emphasized, "We will respond with a special sense of responsibility so that the area can become a model for balanced regional development, through initiatives such as the AI National Pilot City, the establishment of a gateway airport in the southwest following the relocation of the military airport, fostering the mobility industry, promoting Asia Culture Center City 3.0, and expanding youth employment."
