"Is a 10% Discount for Real?" Dongjak District Issues Special Local Gift Certificates for Seoul International Garden Expo

First Round of 3 Billion KRW Issuance Begins at 10 a.m. on June 4

Dongjak District in Seoul will issue a special edition of the 'Dongjak Sarang Gift Certificate' with an increased discount rate from the previous 5% to 10%, aiming to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 Seoul International Garden Expo and to revitalize the local commercial area.

This gift certificate will be issued in a total amount of 5 billion KRW, split into two rounds: 3 billion KRW in the first round and 2 billion KRW in the second round, and will be available for purchase through the 'Seoul Pay+' app. The first round will begin at 10 a.m. on June 4, while the second round will be issued in September. Each person can purchase up to 500,000 KRW per month (with a holding limit of 1.5 million KRW), and the certificates are valid until October 20, 2025, the closing date of the expo.

The gift certificates can only be used at Dongjak Sarang Gift Certificate affiliated stores located near the expo venue, such as Daebang-dong, Sangdo 3-dong, and Sindaebang 1 and 2-dong, around Boramae Park. This measure is intended to enhance convenience for expo visitors and invigorate the surrounding commercial districts. If more than 60% of the purchased amount is used within the validity period, the remaining balance can be refunded; after the validity period, the full unused amount will be refunded.

Last month, Dongjak District signed an agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Dongjak branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association to recruit participating stores for the discount event and will also provide additional discount benefits to participants of the expo's 'Garden Tour'.
