On June 4, National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonshik stated, "With the confirmation of the 21st President of the Republic of Korea, the constitutional procedures for restoring constitutional order and stabilizing state affairs in response to the 12·3 Martial Law have been completed."
Through social networking services (SNS), Speaker Woo said, "I congratulate President Lee Jaemyung on his election, who has been entrusted with the expectations and aspirations of the people for a new Republic of Korea."
He added, "Over the past six months, despite numerous difficulties, I express my deep respect and gratitude to the people who have united their efforts to overcome the national crisis and uphold the Constitution."
Speaker Woo stated, "The Republic of Korea now stands at the starting line of a new era," and continued, "I hope we move forward on the path of unity that brings the hearts of the people together, the path of democracy and livelihood that makes people's lives more comfortable, and the path of peace and prosperity that raises Korea's standing in the world."
He further remarked, "None of the pressing challenges ahead are easy, but we are the Republic of Korea," and added, "I look forward to a successful administration that prioritizes the people and the national interest above all else. The National Assembly will join forces in this effort."
