The administration of Donald Trump in the United States announced on the 4th that it expects to strengthen cooperation with the incoming Lee Jaemyung government, including trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan in the fields of security and the economy.


Mark Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, said in a statement on the 3rd (local time), "We congratulate President Lee Jaemyung on his election as the 14th President of the Republic of Korea." Rubio emphasized, "The United States and South Korea share an ironclad commitment to our alliance, which is based on our mutual defense treaty, shared values, and deep economic ties."


He continued, "We are also modernizing our alliance to meet the demands of today's strategic environment and to address new economic challenges." He pledged, "We will continue to deepen trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan in order to strengthen regional security, enhance economic resilience, and uphold the democratic principles we share."
