Verification of Proper Use of Citizens' Taxes
The Budget and Accounts Special Committee of the 266th 1st Regular Session of the Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam will conduct a review of the 2024 fiscal year settlement approval bill from June 11 to June 13, 2025.
Park Jaesik was elected as the chair of the Special Committee, with Kim Hyungseok as vice chair. The committee members are Jung Yonghak, Seo Jeongin, Yoon Seonggwan, Lee Gyuseop, and Yang Haeyoung.
This review is part of the annual feedback process that aims to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the city's finances, identify areas for improvement in future fiscal management, assess fiscal soundness, analyze the performance of major projects, and verify whether citizens' taxes have been used appropriately.
According to the 2024 fiscal year revenue and expenditure settlement data, the revenue settlement amount was approximately 2.4169 trillion won, and the expenditure settlement amount was approximately 1.9468 trillion won, representing decreases of 168.7 billion won and 61.7 billion won, respectively, compared to the previous year. Based on the balance sheet, Jinju City's assets amounted to 7.7081 trillion won, and liabilities were 145.3 billion won, resulting in a debt ratio of about 1.89% relative to assets. Total liabilities decreased by 3.89% compared to the previous year.
Chair Park Jaesik stated, "Through this review of the settlement approval bill, we will examine whether last year's fiscal management was conducted transparently and seek ways to enhance the city's fiscal soundness." He added, "The results derived from this review will serve as an important standard for future budget planning and execution."
The 2024 fiscal year settlement approval bill will undergo its final review and resolution at the second plenary session on June 24, 2025.
