Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, stated on June 4, "I humbly accept the choice of the people," expressing his intention to concede defeat in the 21st presidential election.
On this day at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Kim said, "I congratulate Lee Jaemyung on his victory."
Kim emphasized, "I will not forget the passionate support shown to me by the people," and added, "I am grateful for the dedication of my fellow party members who elected me and ran alongside me."
He continued, "The Republic of Korea has always made great progress, no matter what crisis it has faced," and reiterated, "I sincerely thank the people for giving me such overwhelming support despite my shortcomings."
As of 1:20 a.m. on this day, with 80% of the votes counted, Lee Jaemyung is virtually confirmed as the winner with 48.37% of the vote. Kim Moonsoo has received 42.93%, and Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, has received 7.64%.
