Kim Moonsoo Leads in the Conservative Stronghold of Yeongnam
Lee Jaemyung Dominates Among Voters in Their 50s and Younger, Kim Moonsoo Ahead Among Those in Their 60s and Older
In the exit polls for the 21st presidential election, Lee Jaemyung, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, was shown to be leading Kim Moonsoo, the candidate from the People Power Party, by a margin outside the margin of error, taking first place.
According to exit polls conducted by the three major terrestrial broadcasters?KBS, MBC, and SBS?on June 3, Lee received 51.7% while Kim received 39.3%, resulting in a gap of 12.4 percentage points.
Lee Junseok, the candidate from the Reform New Party, garnered 7.7%. Kwon Youngguk, the Democratic Labor Party candidate, received 1.3%, and independent candidate Song Jin-ho received 0.1%.
By region, Lee Jaemyung led in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Ulsan, Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Daejeon, Chungnam·Sejong, Chungbuk, Gangwon, and Jeju. Kim Moonsoo was ahead in Busan, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Daegu. Lee Jaemyung received his highest support in Gwangju (81.7%), while Kim Moonsoo received his highest support in Daegu (67.5%).
In Seoul, Lee Jaemyung was projected to receive 49.3% and Kim Moonsoo 40.1%. In Gyeonggi, Lee Jaemyung was predicted to receive 55.8% and Kim Moonsoo 34.6%. In Incheon, Lee Jaemyung received 53.6% and Kim Moonsoo 37.4%.
In the Yeongnam region, considered a conservative stronghold, Kim Moonsoo maintained an advantage. The results were as follows: Busan?Lee Jaemyung 42.7%, Kim Moonsoo 49.0%; Gyeongnam?Lee Jaemyung 43.4%, Kim Moonsoo 48.8%; Ulsan?Lee Jaemyung 46.5%, Kim Moonsoo 44.3%; Daegu?Lee Jaemyung 24.1%, Kim Moonsoo 67.5%; and Gyeongbuk?Lee Jaemyung 28.2%, Kim Moonsoo 64.0%.
In the Honam region, a Democratic Party stronghold, the numbers were: Gwangju?Lee Jaemyung 81.7%, Kim Moonsoo 10.5%; Jeonnam?Lee Jaemyung 80.8%, Kim Moonsoo 10.9%; Jeonbuk?Lee Jaemyung 79.6%, Kim Moonsoo 11.8%.
In the Chungcheong region, considered a casting vote area, the results were: Daejeon?Lee Jaemyung 51.8%, Kim Moonsoo 38.3%; Chungnam·Sejong?Lee Jaemyung 51.3%, Kim Moonsoo 39.7%; Chungbuk?Lee Jaemyung 51.1%, Kim Moonsoo 40.2%.
Elsewhere, the results were: Gangwon?Lee Jaemyung 48.8%, Kim Moonsoo 42.2%; Jeju?Lee Jaemyung 57.9%, Kim Moonsoo 31.2%.
By age group, Lee Jaemyung led among voters in their 50s and younger, while Kim Moonsoo was ahead among voters in their 60s and older. Lee Junseok received the highest support among men in their 20s, with 37.2%.
Specifically, the results were as follows: 20s?Lee Jaemyung 41.3%, Kim Moonsoo 30.9%; 30s?Lee Jaemyung 47.6%, Kim Moonsoo 32.7%; 40s?Lee Jaemyung 72.7%, Kim Moonsoo 22.2%; 50s?Lee Jaemyung 69.8%, Kim Moonsoo 25.9%; 60s?Lee Jaemyung 48.0%, Kim Moonsoo 48.9%; 70s?Lee Jaemyung 34.0%, Kim Moonsoo 64.0%.
By gender, it was found that 55.1% of female voters supported Lee Jaemyung, while 39.2% supported Kim Moonsoo. Among male voters, Lee Jaemyung received 48.3% and Kim Moonsoo 39.4%.
The exit poll by the three terrestrial broadcasters was conducted at 325 polling stations nationwide, targeting 80,146 voters. The survey method involved interviewing every fifth voter exiting the polling station to determine voting tendencies.
