The 2025 Presidential Election Through Voting Certification Photos
Stamps Capture Anger, Humor, and Responsibility
On June 3, as the main voting for the 21st presidential election took place, scenes from both inside and outside polling stations flooded online platforms. Red stamps appeared on the back of hands, on character drawings, and even on Constitutional Court decision documents.
Voters authenticated their ballots in their own unique ways. Social media was filled with certification photos, accompanied by captions such as "This time, I really wanted to leave proof," and "The era of doing whatever you want is over."
The image that sparked the biggest reaction was the one showing a voting stamp placed directly on the Constitutional Court's decision document that removed former President Yoon Suk-yeol from office. The photo spread rapidly, with some saying, "This single image encapsulates the entire meaning of the presidential election." Given its strong political message, responses were sharply divided, but many analysts noted that this also demonstrates the weight this election carried for voters.
Photos of hands densely covered with stamps were also shared. These were often accompanied by the phrase, "Not voting is the same as telling others to do whatever they want." The repeated stamps served as both a symbol of participation and an expression of responsibility.
In front of polling stations, attention was drawn to creative certification stamps decorated with various illustrations, such as a panda shouting "Voting Complete" and a robot character exclaiming "Oorelle." Stamp drawings shared with family and friends were filled with laughter and a sense of fun.
One citizen encountered at a polling station that day said, "Voting is not just something you do?it's something you express." They added, "The act of stamping carries meaning beyond just casting a ballot. These stamps, which contain political messages, everyday emotions, and even a bit of humor, are another kind of election record created by voters themselves."
