According to the Jungbu Fire Station in Seoul on June 3, a report was received at 9:35 a.m. that a fire had occurred at a garment factory on the second floor of a neighborhood living facility in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul.
As a result of the accident, a woman in her 60s died, and four others were injured.
The fire authorities declared a Level 1 response at 9:41 a.m., mobilizing all personnel from the local fire station. They deployed 31 pieces of firefighting equipment and 115 firefighters.
The main blaze was brought under control at 10:04 a.m., and the fire was completely extinguished by 11:02 a.m.
Based on multiple witness statements that "a man poured thinner," the fire authorities and police believe the fire was started intentionally through arson, and they are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
