On June 3, LG Electronics announced that it had signed a "business agreement for cooperation in responding to global artificial intelligence (AI) regulations" with the AI Safety Research Institute of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The AI Safety Research Institute is a core national institution for AI safety research in Korea and is actively collaborating with governments and research organizations in major countries.
LG Electronics plans to accelerate efforts to ensure the safety of AI technologies applied to its products and services through collaboration with the AI Safety Research Institute. In particular, the company aims to secure communication channels with AI-related organizations in major countries and working groups under international organizations, and jointly respond to global regulations such as the European Union (EU) AI Act.

Previously, LG Electronics defined its AI vision as "empathetic intelligence," meaning to provide a more differentiated experience by considering and empathizing with users, and presented "responsible intelligence" as one of the pillars of empathetic intelligence.
Samsu Lee, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Vice President of LG Electronics, said, "Based on AI governance, we will strengthen the planning and development processes for AI products and services, responsibly manage data protection and AI ethics, and enable differentiated AI experiences."
