Yangpyeong County Opens Mangmi-ri Health Clinic in Jipyeong-myeon
A Reliable Pillar for Residents' Health... Visiting Mobile Health Clinic
Dementia Relief Center Transitions to Direct Management... Systematic Dementia Care Strengthened
A New Driver of Healthy Living... Digital Walking Challenge
Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province is rapidly implementing citizen-centered health policies under the principle of "A Healthy Life, Cared for by the Community."
According to Yangpyeong County on June 3, the county is focusing on building a system that enhances medical accessibility and provides health care at the heart of daily life. As a result, tailored policies that residents can directly benefit from are steadily being introduced.
In December, a new health clinic will open in Mangmi-ri, Jipyeong-myeon. This clinic will provide basic medical services such as primary care, vaccinations, and home health management, mainly for the approximately 720 residents of Mangmi 1-ri, Mangmi 2-ri, and Daepyeong 1-ri. The clinic will be staffed by a single nurse. A total budget of 790 million won has been allocated, and with administrative procedures and design reviews completed, construction is set to begin in July.
Facility upgrades at existing health institutions are also actively underway. The health subcenters in Danwol, Cheongun, and Jipyeong-myeon are undergoing "green remodeling" by the end of the year, which will improve insulation, replace heating and cooling systems with high-efficiency equipment, and carry out external repairs to boost energy efficiency. The total project cost is about 1.2 billion won, with the aim of creating a more pleasant and sustainable public healthcare environment.
In addition, "visiting medical services" that go beyond fixed locations are receiving strong positive feedback from residents. The "Visiting Mobile Health Clinic" makes weekly rounds to eight townships, providing medical services at village halls and health clinics. Services include Korean medicine treatments such as acupuncture and herbal prescriptions, dental checkups, and infectious disease prevention education. In a 2023 user satisfaction survey, 94% of respondents reported being "satisfied or very satisfied," and 92% indicated they would use the service again.
Dementia management policies to address the aging society have also been strengthened. Starting this year, the county has transitioned the Dementia Relief Center to direct management, establishing a systematic registration and management system. Currently, there are 2,075 registered patients. The "Memory-Filled Yangpyeong Youth Train" program provides early screening and cognitive training by visiting senior centers. The county is also faithfully implementing its pledges, such as expanding support for dementia treatment costs and care supplies.
In July, the "Yongmun Healthy Living Support Center," remodeled from the former Yongmun Health Subcenter, will open its doors. This center will offer practical, daily health management programs to approximately 38,000 residents in the eastern region. It will also collaborate with the Central and Western Health Management Centers and local health management offices to promote chronic disease prevention and health improvement projects tailored to each stage of life.

Digital-based health practice programs are also attracting attention. The county is running a walking challenge using the mobile app "Walkon," and since September 2023, about 7,400 people have participated, increasing the walking participation rate from 35.8% to 47%. In the future, the county plans to expand community-based health activities by forming walking clubs linked to dementia prevention programs.
County Governor Jeon Jinseon stated, "The health of our residents is the most fundamental value that the administration must uphold. We will establish a comprehensive health and welfare system so that every resident, regardless of where they live or their circumstances, can lead a healthy life," adding, "Yangpyeong County will continue to expand the community care model that protects health in everyday life."
