"Turning Everyday Life into Art"... Jeonil Building 245 Offers Rich Saturday Cultural Events Previous day stage.

The city of Gwangju announced on June 2 that it will operate the specialized cultural experience program 'Gonggam' at Jeonil Building 245, the city's representative urban complex cultural space, allowing citizens to experience art in their daily lives until November.

'Gonggam' is a citizen-participatory cultural and arts program held every Saturday at Jeonil Building 245. It offers a variety of activities such as performances, exhibitions, flea markets, and hands-on experiences, serving as a cultural oasis in the heart of the city.

This year, in particular, the program will feature humanities-focused content, including a humanities tour inspired by the novel "The Boy Is Coming," which has been revisited following author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature win. Other highlights include the "Jeonil 245 Class" humanities lecture series in collaboration with resident organizations of Jeonil Building 245, and the "Woman/Man Reading Books" sessions.

From June, the exhibition program will be in full swing. Events such as "Jeonil 245 Exhibition," "My First Exhibition," and the AR game "AR Game Tour - Detective Jeonil," developed as a unique game for Jeonil Building 245, will be held to boost citizen participation.

The "Woman/Man Reading Books" sessions will take place twice, on June 14 and June 28, featuring author Sung Haena of "Honmono" and author Kim Kitae of "Two People's International," who will meet with citizens to share the meaning of their works.

There will also be a variety of hands-on events for families. At "Action! Art Playground," craft programs such as making butterfly cakes, creating personalized terrariums, making dog bottle cakes, crafting desk clocks with chenille stems, and storytelling with soap will be offered sequentially every Saturday. In addition, the "Jeonil Ppyongppyong Arcade," set up to make waiting time enjoyable, will provide access to air bounce play equipment, retro game consoles, and children's rides.

In the second half of the year, additional programs are planned, including the youth empathy project "What's In My Book," which compiles young people's stories into books; the book fair "Deokjil Store," featuring unique pop-up stores; and "Singer Song Writers," which continues the legacy of the Jeonil Song Festival.

All programs are free of charge. Detailed information about operating hours and advance registration can be found on the official Jeonil Madang website, Instagram, and Naver Blog. For phone inquiries, contact Jeonil Building 245.

Kim Seongbae, Director of Culture and Sports, stated, "Jeonil Building 245 is establishing itself as a complex cultural space that connects Gwangju's history and the sensibilities of its citizens," and added, "We will continue to expand opportunities for enjoying art in everyday life through a variety of cultural experience programs that encompass all generations and social groups."
