Hyundai's Global Sales in May 2025 Drop by 1.7%
Domestic Market Declines by 5.2%, Palisade Remains Best-Seller
Hyundai Motor Company reported that its global sales in May 2025 decreased by 1.7% compared to the previous year. In particular, the decline in the domestic market was notable, with sales dropping by about 5% year-on-year, while overseas sales also saw a slight decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous year.
On June 2, Hyundai announced that it sold a total of 351,174 units in global markets in May 2025.
By market, domestic sales reached 58,966 units, down 5.2% from the same month last year, while overseas sales totaled 292,208 units, representing a 0.9% decrease.
The best-selling Hyundai vehicle in the domestic market in May 2025 was the large SUV Palisade, with 7,682 units sold.
This was followed by the Avante (6,438 units), Santa Fe (4,969 units), Grandeur (4,597 units), and Porter (4,498 units).
For the premium brand Genesis, a total of 9,517 units were sold, including 3,712 units of the G80, 2,354 units of the GV80, and 2,435 units of the GV70.
In overseas markets, Hyundai sold 292,208 units, a 0.9% decrease compared to the same month last year.
A Hyundai official stated, "We anticipate that the unfavorable business environment will persist due to expanding geopolitical risks," adding, "We plan to maintain the sales volume of hybrid vehicles and introduce next-generation models to sustain sales growth momentum."
