Environmental Action with Families

On May 31, Busan Port Authority (BPA) and Busan Facilities Corporation jointly held an EM soil ball throwing event and ecological purification activities in the area of the North Port Chinsu Park.

This event was organized to commemorate the importance of the sea and to raise awareness about marine environment protection. Employees from both organizations and their families participated together, engaging in EM soil ball throwing and plogging activities.

EM soil balls are eco-friendly purifiers made by mixing an activated solution of effective microorganisms (EM), high-quality loess, and fermentation agents. They are known to be effective in improving water quality, removing odors, and restoring ecosystems.

Approximately 1,000 EM soil balls were used on this day, and they were thrown into the Byeolbit Waterway within the North Port Chinsu Park, as well as at the point where Choryangcheon Stream meets the sea in front of North Port. Earlier this month, on the 13th, employees and their children from both organizations made and fermented about 300 EM soil balls themselves, adding further significance to the event.

Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "It is especially meaningful that our employees participated in environmental protection activities with their families in celebration of Ocean Day," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in creating a sustainable marine ecological environment by working together with related organizations."
