Gwangju Seogu Launches 'Special Delivery Run to You' Lecture Service for People with Disabilities

"Community-Based Lifelong Learning Service"

Seogu District in Gwangju (headed by District Mayor Kim Ikang) is introducing a new delivery lecture service for learners with disabilities, called 'Special Delivery Run to You'.

According to Seogu District on June 2, this initiative aims to provide learning opportunities to people with disabilities who have been marginalized in lifelong education, by expanding the existing 'Run to You' program to include them.

'Run to You' is the flagship program of Seogu's lifelong education brand, 'The Largest University in the World, Seogu (Segundae)'. The name carries a dual meaning: 'Learn to you' (delivering learning to residents) and 'Run to you' (instructors visiting directly). Until now, Run to You has offered a variety of lectures for residents, and with this new project, it will expand into a customized educational service for people with disabilities.

The district will select 30 professional instructors who understand the characteristics of people with disabilities and have experience in disability education, to provide lifelong education courses tailored to people with disabilities in areas such as culture and arts, humanities, and hobbies.

The district will also adjust the minimum number of participants required for study groups from the previous five to three, and applications can be submitted via email. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Happiness Education Division at Seogu District Office.

District Mayor Kim Ikang stated, "Run to You is a community-based lifelong learning service designed so that anyone can receive the lecture they want at the place they want," and added, "By expanding the target group to include people with disabilities, we will create an environment where all residents can participate in learning equally, regardless of disability."

Meanwhile, the district has been selected for the fourth consecutive year as a 'Lifelong Learning City for People with Disabilities' by the National Institute of Special Education under the Ministry of Education, and is operating 29 customized programs for people with disabilities this year.
