This training was organized in collaboration with the Korea Maker Education Cooperative, led by Yoon Soogyung, to promote the on-site expansion of the Digital Sprout project. The Digital Sprout project, overseen by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, aims to enhance software and AI experience and digital competency among elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide.

As the project’s main institution for the Gyeongsang region, National Pukyong University is receiving a total of 1.2 billion KRW in support by the end of this year. The university is providing hands-on, advanced digital education tailored to the characteristics of coastal regions in Gyeongsang, as well as Honam, Jeju, and other digitally marginalized areas and groups.

The training on this day focused on key content for each course, practical teaching methods, and important considerations for program operation, and was conducted in a hands-on format, receiving positive feedback from participants.

For elementary school teachers, "Building AI Robots for Fishing Villages" (lead instructor Hwang Kyuhwa) offered a reasoning-based robot control course aimed at solving issues in fishing communities, while "AI-powered Sea Fairy Tale AR Journey" (lead instructor Kim Sojung) featured AI-based fairy tale creation and AR technology experience programs.

For middle school teachers, "SOS! Save the Sea!" (lead instructor Hwang Inmi) included data analysis and visualization, as well as a hands-on session on marine waste classification using BitBlock. "Marine AI Device Design Project" (lead instructor Lee Yangdeuk) was presented as a process where participants design exploration vessels and AI devices within a scenario of a fictional "2035 Global Youth Marine Exploration Team," and plan marine equipment incorporating AI functions.

Noh Maengseok, head of the Digital Sprout Project Team and professor of Big Data Convergence, stated, "Through this training, we will continue our efforts to establish National Pukyong University as a leading platform institution for digital education among local elementary, middle, and high schools."
