Presidential Election D-1: Lee Jaemyung Campaigns in Political Hometown Seongnam... Stresses "Revolution of Light" in Front of National Assembly

Traversing Hanam, Seongnam, and Gangseo in Seoul
Democratic Party's Election Committee Continues Offensive Against "Ribak School"

On June 2, one day before the 21st presidential election, Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, will wrap up his campaign by visiting his political hometown of Seongnam in Gyeonggi Province and Yeouido in Seoul, which served as the starting point of the "Revolution of Light." Lee and the Democratic Party have highlighted the possibility that Kim Moonsu, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, may have been involved in the Ribak School "comment manipulation" allegations, bringing this issue to the forefront in the final stage of the campaign.

Lee began his day by appearing on the YouTube program "Kim Eojun's News Factory: Humility is Difficult," and then scheduled campaign stops throughout the Gyeonggi and Seoul regions. In the morning, he visited Seoul Forest in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, and around lunchtime, he will head to Starfield Hanam in Gyeonggi Province. Hanam is the constituency of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yongman, who has accompanied Lee closely throughout the campaign.

In the afternoon, Lee will hold a press conference and continue his campaign in Seongnam. He is expected to share his reflections on concluding the 21st presidential election in the place where he laid the foundation for his political growth.

The final campaign rally will be held at Yeouido Park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Just as his first campaign event took place at Gwanghwamun, the site of the "Revolution of Light," the last rally will be held at Yeouido, the starting point of the revolution, to once again emphasize the significance of a change in government. Cho Seungrae, head of public relations for the Democratic Party's election committee, explained, "From this place where the Revolution of Light began, we will end the turmoil, overcome the crisis, and envision the future of Korea as a leading global economic power." Lee will conclude all campaign activities after appearing on the YouTube channel "Deli Minju TV" at 10 p.m. for the "Online Final Rally 123."

The choice of Yeouido Park and the YouTube broadcast is significant, as it recalls the lifting of the December 3 Martial Law last year. On December 3 last year, during the martial law, Lee called Democratic Party lawmakers to the National Assembly so that the assembly could vote on lifting the martial law, and broadcasted a live YouTube stream while moving to the National Assembly to encourage citizens to gather in front of the building. In his book "Ultimately, the People Do It," Lee recalled, "I had to inform as many citizens as possible about the situation as quickly as possible."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's election committee is focusing its offensive on the connection between the far-right educational group "Ribak School," accused of manipulating online comments, and Kim Moonsu, the People Power Party candidate. Following the "Newstapa" report, the Democratic Party's election committee has held two press conferences and issued five statements to highlight the case.

Park Chandae, the Democratic Party's chief campaign committee chair, said at the central election committee meeting held at the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, "It is said that Ribak School's YouTube videos are already being deleted. No more evidence should be destroyed. We urge the police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation." Addressing Kim Moonsu, he demanded, "We ask you to immediately and fully disclose the truth about your connection to Ribak School before the public."
