The district has planned the event as an open picnic that can be enjoyed by everyone, including tourists, local residents, merchants, families, friends, and even pets. On-site, visitors will find cultural and artistic performances, food and beverage pop-up stores, a local flea market, and a variety of hands-on programs. Four establishments selected as “Itaewon Local Brand 30” last year?Anov Pizza, Yakitori Go, Bistro Mexi, and Kkikmil?will participate in the pop-up stores to showcase Itaewon’s culinary offerings.

Cultural and artistic performances will include Gong (Jing) Yoga, a world percussion experience, and a West African percussion performance. At the flea market, local activists will sell handmade crafts, upcycled products, and desserts. There will also be event booths for activities such as face painting and roulette coin draws.

This event was co-organized by the Itaewon Local Brand Governance (a private consultative body) and the Commercial District Revitalization Organization. Since being selected for a Seoul Metropolitan Government project in 2023, Yongsan-gu has been implementing annual initiatives to strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of the Itaewon commercial district. This year, the focus is on building a long-term ecosystem and establishing a “glocal” (global + local) commercial area.

Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, “We hope to bring the vibrancy of Itaewon back into daily life and offer a special moment of relaxation where the local community and tourists can come together. We will do our best to make Itaewon a place where people want to stay longer and visit again, through events that allow everyone to experience its unique charm together with the diverse members of the community.”
