Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province to Develop "Munhyeong-dong No. 2 Small Park"
Project aims to address underserved areas and expand citizen-centered green spaces
On June 2, the city of Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province announced plans to develop the "Munhyeong-dong No. 2 Small Park" by utilizing 2,485 square meters of state-owned land located at 253 Munhyeong-dong.
This small park development project is part of the "2030 Gwangju City Park and Green Space Master Plan" and is being promoted in response to local residents' requests, with the aim of addressing areas underserved by park services.
The total project cost is expected to exceed 1.2 billion won. The city plans to complete the detailed design work within this year and finish the project by 2026.
The planned park will feature a variety of community-focused amenities, including exercise equipment, rest facilities, walking trails, and flower paths. It will be designed as a nature-friendly space with abundant greenery, transforming into a leisure area where citizens can enjoy and connect with nature in their daily lives.
Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "I am very pleased that this project will provide comfortable and safe rest areas for residents in regions lacking park facilities," adding, "We will continue our efforts to expand citizen-centered green spaces in the future."
