Korail to Provide Real-Time Updates to Minimize Passenger Confusion

On June 4, some regular train services on the Gyeongbu Line, Honam Line, and others will be suspended due to track improvement work at Geumcheon-gu Office Station in Seoul.

Korail announced on June 2 that it will completely suspend the operation of 20 regular trains, including Mugunghwa-ho and Saemaeul-ho, on the day of the construction, and reduce the operating sections of 3 trains.

Passengers must check the departure and arrival stations for trains with adjusted routes. For example, Mugunghwa-ho No. 1422 on the Gyeongbu Line (departing Gwangju at 12:11 p.m., arriving at Seodaejeon at 2:48 p.m., and scheduled to arrive at Yongsan at 4:53 p.m.) will only operate between Gwangju and Seodaejeon. It will not run from Seodaejeon to Yongsan.

Information on suspended or adjusted train operations can be checked on the Korail mobile application 'Korail Talk' and the official website.

Some trains, including certain KTX services passing through the construction section, will operate at reduced speeds for safety reasons, which may result in delays compared to normal schedules. Korail explained that it is adjusting construction times and train intervals to minimize delays.

On this day, temporary stops will be made at some stations where regular trains do not normally stop. The temporary stops will be at Anyang, Osan, Seojeongni, Pyeongtaek, Seonhwan, Jeonui, Bugang, Sintanjin, Dogooncheon, and Sapgyo. Six trains on the Gyeongbu Line and Janghang Line passing through these sections will stop at these stations on a temporary basis.

In addition, holders of regular train season tickets will be allowed to use higher-grade trains such as Saemaeul-ho and KTX for one day.

Korail plans to quickly provide information to reduce confusion through notices inside stations, in-train videos on KTX, and text messages to season ticket holders.

This construction is a follow-up to the improvement of the up-track facilities carried out on May 27, and involves maintenance work on the down-track.
