Former President Moon Jaein and his wife watched the film "The Tiger: An Old Hunter's Tale," which tells the story of a Sewol ferry disaster diver.

On June 2, the distributor Yeongro Brothers announced that former President Moon Jaein and his wife attended a screening held in Busan on May 31. Directed by Jung Yooncheol, "The Tiger: An Old Hunter's Tale" follows the journey of diver Kyungsoo (played by Lee Jihoon), who overcomes pain and returns to his family.

The film is based on Kim Takwhan's novel "It Is a Lie," which is inspired by the true story of the late diver Kim Kwanhong, who was deployed to search for missing persons during the Sewol ferry disaster. After watching the film, former President Moon commented, "Even without recreating the scene of the disaster, the film delivers an incredible sense of immersion and empathy. I cried so much that my voice is still hoarse. I hope many people will watch it."

He continued, "The Sewol ferry disaster raised the profound question of 'What is a nation?' At the time, the government not only failed to rescue the children while they were still alive, but also demonstrated incompetence and irresponsibility during the rescue process, and exhibited cowardice by blaming civilian divers."

He added, "We must build a country that puts the safety and lives of its people first. We need to unite our faith to create a safer Republic of Korea. In that sense, I believe 'The Tiger: An Old Hunter's Tale' is a truly timely film."
