Daejeon City announced that it will implement special traffic measures to ensure the safety and smooth visitation of bereaved families and citizens visiting the National Daejeon Cemetery on June 6, in observance of the 70th Memorial Day.

The city expects approximately 50,000 visitors to the Daejeon National Cemetery on that day. To address this, it will operate a traffic control team and strengthen on-site response capabilities in cooperation with the Yuseong Police Station and the National Daejeon Cemetery.

In particular, to minimize parking inconvenience for visitors, the city will open the Daejeon World Cup Stadium parking lot free of charge and operate shuttle buses between the parking lot and the cemetery, thereby improving public transportation accessibility and convenience of movement.

The shuttle buses will run from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Passengers using private vehicles can board at Gate 11 of the World Cup Stadium, while subway users can board at Exit 7 of the World Cup Stadium Station.

Additionally, to ensure smooth public transportation flow, the section from Noeun Gas Station Intersection to Noeun Tunnel to Daejeon National Cemetery (2.5 km) will be designated as a temporary bus-only lane and operated exclusively during the same hours (7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.).

Seven city bus routes passing through the section from Yuseong IC Samgeori to in front of Hyeonchungwon Station will be detoured, and at the World Cup Stadium Station bus stop, these buses will be connected with shuttle buses to assist visitors in reaching the cemetery.

To minimize traffic congestion, the city is requesting that vehicles entering from Donghaksa, Gongju, and other outlying areas voluntarily use alternative routes. Additionally, to alleviate highway congestion, the city will encourage the use of Bukdaejeon IC, Seodaejeon IC, and Namsejong IC instead of Yuseong IC.

Nam Sideok, Director of the Daejeon City Transportation Bureau, stated, "We will do our utmost to maintain traffic order and provide on-site conveniences to minimize inconvenience for bereaved families and citizens visiting the cemetery on Memorial Day with reverence."
