The establishment of this research center was developed through years of joint research activities between Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions and Hanyang University on thin film technology for semiconductor devices. The purpose is to expand and advance technological exchanges and joint research between the company and the university into broader areas.

HTRC aims to connect the knowledge of the company and the university through technological exchanges with Hanyang University faculty, discover new elemental technologies or possibilities for joint research, and ultimately create new technologies. In addition, HTRC will have an operational system in place to facilitate the smooth execution of joint research, supporting the prompt implementation of collaborative projects. The center also plans to contribute to nurturing the next generation of engineers through an award system for students who contribute to the research.

The opening ceremony held on May 30 was attended by Won Jehyung, Chairman of Tokyo Electron Korea; Kazuhide Hasebe, Technology Officer of Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions; Ahn Jin-ho, Vice President for Research at Hanyang University; Professor Jeon Hyungtak, and other key figures.
