Oral Health Experience Programs for All Generations
to Be Held from June 4 to 13
Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul will hold a “Resident Participation Oral Health Week Event” from June 4 to 13 to mark the 79th Oral Health Day (June 9). In 2024, Dongdaemun-gu ranked first among all autonomous districts in Seoul in the survey on the “rate of tooth brushing after lunch yesterday.”
At an oral health event held last year, elderly individuals are listening to an explanation about oral health care. Provided by Dongdaemun-gu.
This event features a variety of programs designed to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and encourage good practices for all age groups, including infants, adults, and seniors. From June 4 to 12, the Oral Health Office at the public health center will provide oral examinations, fluoride application, and proper tooth brushing education for children attending daycare centers. On June 9, Oral Health Day, an oral health quiz event will be held in the lobby on the first floor of the district office, offering a fun way to learn about oral health facts.
From June 9 to 12, oral health education for adults will be offered to Korea Railroad Corporation employees, providing essential information such as post-implant care and how to use interdental brushes. On June 12, a dental plaque screening booth will be set up at Baebongsan Square, where any resident can participate. Participants will be able to check their own oral health status and receive guidance on how to use hygiene products such as toothbrushes, dental floss, and interdental brushes.
In addition, oral hygiene products and usage instructions will be provided to seniors in care facilities, and various oral health programs such as fluoride application, scaling, and oral health education for vulnerable groups including children, adolescents, and people with disabilities will be conducted throughout the year.
Lee Pilhyung, head of Dongdaemun-gu Office, stated, “Oral health is an important area directly linked to overall health,” and added, “I hope this event will provide an opportunity for more residents to recognize the importance of oral care and practice proper habits.”
