Korea East-West Power Provides Customized Training and On-Site Inspections
KCCP Issues ESG Excellent SME Certificates
The Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership (KCCP) announced on June 2 that it has signed a business agreement with Korea East-West Power to promote the "2025 Partner Company ESG Support Project."
Through this agreement, the two organizations will strengthen win-win cooperation between large and small-to-medium-sized enterprises and take concrete steps to solidify ESG management across the entire supply chain.
Korea East-West Power will provide comprehensive support to its partner SMEs, including customized training, on-site inspections (consulting), and improvement activities, all based on the KCCP's "SME ESG Standard Guidelines." Through these efforts, the company aims to achieve tangible results in greenhouse gas emissions management, improvement of environmental and industrial safety and health facilities, and enhancement of ESG information disclosure capabilities.
The KCCP plans to issue an "ESG Excellent SME" certificate to partner companies with outstanding ESG indicator compliance, and will link these companies to incentives in areas such as finance, exports, and technology. Companies holding the ESG Excellent SME certificate can receive various benefits, including preferential interest rates (from KB Kookmin, IBK, Shinhan, Hana, and BNK Kyongnam Banks), preferential treatment in overseas market entry support programs (KOTRA, KOICA), and support for environmental and energy technologies (Korea Institute of Energy Technology, Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute).
Korea East-West Power continues to achieve meaningful results in ESG management. In April, the company received the "Climate Change Response Carbon Management Sector Honors Award" from the global sustainability rating agency CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). It has also been selected for three consecutive years as a "Recognized Company for Rural ESG Practices," and continues to promote tailored welfare programs for rural areas, such as energy efficiency projects, solar facility support, and provision of electric wheelchairs.
A KCCP official stated, "Korea East-West Power is a model case of a public enterprise practicing win-win ESG management across the supply chain," adding, "These efforts will provide an important foundation for enhancing the sustainability and competitiveness of our industrial ecosystem."
Kim Byungjo, Head of Win-Win Cooperation at Korea East-West Power, said, "Improving ESG management awareness and capabilities among partner SMEs is essential for building a sustainable supply chain," and added, "We will do our utmost to grow together with SMEs through ESG and various support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises."
