Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Youth Activity Promotion Center will host the "2025 Dokdo Ambassador Youth Camp" to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, aiming to enhance young people's correct understanding of history and awareness of territorial sovereignty.
The camp will be held once in each of four regions?southern, eastern, northern, and western Gyeonggi. A total of 220 youths from Gyeonggi Province will participate, with 55 participants in each session. The detailed schedule is as follows: the first session (southern region) from June 2 to 5; the second session (eastern region) from June 17 to 20; the third session (northern region) from September 2 to 5; and the fourth session (western region) from September 22 to 25.
Participants will visit Ulleungdo and Dokdo in person, exploring key sites such as the Dokdo Museum, Tonggumi Beach, and Jeodong Port Coastal Walk. In particular, on Dokdo, the participants will deliver a message for the protection of Dokdo through a flash mob performance they have prepared themselves.
In addition, the camp will feature interactive programs such as expert lectures on the history and figures involved in the defense of Dokdo, team-based production of promotional content to raise awareness about Dokdo, and the delivery of support kits for the Dokdo Defense Force.
Seo Donghwan, head of the Gyeonggi Province Youth Division, said, "On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation, I hope this camp will help young people gain a correct understanding of Dokdo's history and develop a sense of sovereignty over our territory."
