Culture Ministry Hosts International Korean Culture Content Contest 'Talk Talk Korea'

Applications Open Worldwide Until August 5

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will host the international content contest 'Talk Talk Korea 2025' for people around the world from June 2 to August 5.


Now in its 12th year, Talk Talk Korea is a representative Hallyu content contest where participants from diverse cultural backgrounds creatively express the appeal of Korean culture. Last year, more than 60,000 works were submitted from 140 countries, and a total of 80 people, including Mr. Gahir from India, who cleverly depicted the Korean way of communication and its characteristics in a video (in the Meme & Trend category), received awards.


This year's contest will feature five categories, all centered on Korea: ▲Promotion Video (cinematic video, music video, 3D motion graphics, animation, etc.?horizontal videos of 2 to 3 minutes), ▲Art & Craft (drawings, webtoons, traditional crafts, calligraphy, etc.), ▲Photobook (photobooks using collage techniques), ▲Meme & Trend (memes, challenges, etc.?vertical short videos of 15 to 60 seconds), and ▲Special Category in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation (open format). The special category has been newly established to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, aiming to shed light on its meaning and share the values of freedom and peace with the world. Any format?including promotion video, art & craft, photobook, and meme & trend?can be used to participate in the special category.

The Ministry plans to award a total of 300 works through a five-stage judging process: preliminary screening, first and second rounds of judging, online voting, and final judging. Of these, 220 works that advance to the second round and online voting will receive a newly established participation award this year, while 80 works that reach the final judging will be awarded prizes for first to fifth place.


The five first-place winners in each category will be offered an eight-night, nine-day Korean cultural experience, including airfare, and will participate in various cultural events during their stay in Korea. In addition, starting this year, the single overall grand prize winner across all categories will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, and the first-place winner in the special category will receive both the Korean cultural experience and an additional digital gift worth $2,000.


This year's awards ceremony will be held at the 'Korean Culture Grand Festival' on November 8, and the winning works will be showcased through both domestic and international online and offline exhibitions.


The popular K-pop group EPEX will serve as the promotional model for the contest.


Any foreigner interested in Korean culture can participate in the contest through the official website.


Chae Soohee, Director of Overseas Public Relations Policy at the Ministry, stated, "This contest is a platform where foreigners can newly highlight the appeal of Korean culture from their own perspectives and communicate across cultural boundaries." She added, "In particular, through this year's special category commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation, we hope participants will gain a deeper understanding of Korea's historical circumstances and share with the world our experience of preserving and developing our unique culture even in times of hardship."
