Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on June 1 that it has recently carried out a project to improve the competitiveness of traditional markets by upgrading store environments.
Through customized support for each store, including the purchase and installation of sales facilities such as freezers, refrigerators, and product display stands, the county has dramatically improved the commercial environment of Hampyeong Cheonji Traditional Market.
With the overall environment improved, merchants are now able to conduct business in a much cleaner setting, and visitors have responded positively, saying that "the market atmosphere has become much brighter and cleaner."
Seo Seongdo, president of the Hampyeong Cheonji Traditional Market Merchants Association, said, "I would like to thank the county for its interest and support for traditional markets, which are struggling due to high prices and economic downturn. We will continue to make our own efforts in cooperation with merchants to revitalize Hampyeong Cheonji Traditional Market."
Lee Sangik, governor of Hampyeong County, stated, "The environmental improvement project is the first step toward enhancing the overall competitiveness of the market. We will continue to develop various policies so that Hampyeong Cheonji Traditional Market can become the center of the local economy."
