Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, firmly denied any knowledge of the conservative group "Reebak School," which is suspected of orchestrating an organized online comment manipulation campaign.
On June 1, speaking to reporters before a campaign event in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, Kim was asked about allegations raised by the Democratic Party that a group called Reebak School operated a comment team to support his election. He responded, "I have no knowledge of such matters," and added, "One should not make such claims without evidence."
Previously, investigative media outlet Newstapa reported that the conservative group "Reebak School" formed a comment manipulation team called "Jasonsgun" (Freedom Finger Army Saving the Nation with Comments) to influence public opinion during the presidential election. The Democratic Party has raised the possibility of a connection, citing examples such as past activities involving both the group and Kim Moonsoo.
When asked about claims that Kim appeared in a promotional video for Reebak School and that people associated with the group ran as candidates for the Christian Liberty Unification Party, which Kim founded, he replied, "I have no knowledge of this at all. Moreover, I have absolutely no connection to comments or such activities. I do not even know who posts comments for our own party, so how could I possibly know who is posting comments for Reebak School? It makes no sense." When pressed about whether he participated in a 2018 lecture organized by an affiliate of the Reebak School representative, Kim responded, "The issue is not about whether I know anyone from Reebak School or not. Isn't the real issue the comments themselves?"
Kim also dismissed a question about whether he knows Son, the head of Reebak School, saying, "The question itself does not make sense. You are asking a question that cannot be answered, and questions about comments or such matters are not valid."
