Lee Jae Myung Visits Dongdaegu Station: "We Are Not Leftists or Rightists, but People of Capability"

Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, visited Dongdaegu Station Plaza on the afternoon of June 1 and made a final appeal for support.

At Dongdaegu Station Plaza that afternoon, Lee stated, "I will become a true president who delivers effective results and is respected and recognized by the people based on my achievements."

Lee said, "Daegu has always been a very challenging place for our Democratic Party and for me, Lee Jae Myung," adding, "But now, I believe the sentiment in Daegu will be different."

He continued, "It doesn't matter whether it's Kim Dae Jung's policy or Park Chung Hee's policy," and emphasized, "We are not leftists or rightists, but people of capability," raising his voice to state, "I do not want a half-hearted president, a 'half-president.'"

He said, "The president is not a king we elect to worship. They are a worker and an agent we choose to do the job we need," and pointed out, "If you say, 'You are wearing red. I don't care if you can't do the job,' do you think the worker will work hard and develop their abilities?"

He further emphasized, "For a worker, regardless of their color, background, or personal connections, if they deliver results and are loyal to their employer, they should be paid more. If they betray the employer, point a gun at them, act irresponsibly, or are incompetent, their pay should be cut, and if they continue to disobey, they should be dismissed."

Lee stated, "During the military dictatorship, the benefits of industrialization and modernization were concentrated in Yeongnam, but as the concentration in the capital area has intensified, has the People Power Party government ever given special consideration to Daegu?" He stressed, "We must pursue inclusive growth, not policies that favor only the capital region, large corporations, or privileged classes."

He went on to say, "Just as I changed Seongnam City, just as I changed Gyeonggi Province, and just as I led the Democratic Party to its greatest general election victory, I will repay you by building a true democratic republic where all the capabilities of the nation are used solely for the people."
