On June 1, Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the allegations of comment manipulation involving the conservative-leaning group 'Reebak School', stating, "It makes no sense to claim that the People Power Party is unrelated. I believe there is a connection."
After finishing his campaign in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, Lee responded to reporters' questions regarding the People Power Party's claim that it is actually the Democratic Party orchestrating election manipulation. He said, "The Reebak School allegations are simply an incident that has come to light. Can the People Power Party really deny its substance?"
Lee explained, "Reebak School allegedly used the pretense of training after-school care teachers to issue fake certificates and have people write online comments. In that case, we must consider who was behind these actions, and who benefited from them."
He continued, "They praised People Power Party candidate Kim Moonsoo while slandering candidate Lee Jaemyung, spreading false information to launch political attacks. The full benefit of these actions went to candidate Kim and the People Power Party."
Lee added, "Looking at the People Power Party's track record, to which these benefits accrued, I cannot dispel the suspicion that the party is the real force behind this. Wasn't there the so-called 'Sibal-dan' (Crusader Part-timer Group) in the past? There was also the 'NIS Comment Manipulation' case involving a state agency. The People Power Party has the DNA of comment manipulation," he emphasized.
