Kwon Sungdong Criticizes Lee Jaemyung: "Expulsion for Lee Junseok, Forgiveness for Yoo Simin... Double Standards"

"Lee Jaemyung Too Busy Defending Yoo Simin's Remarks"
"Double-Standard DNA of Left-Wing Forces Proven Once Again"

Kwon Sungdong, floor leader and joint election countermeasure committee chairman of the People Power Party, on June 1 criticized Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung for his response to writer Yoo Simin's remarks about Seol Nanyeong, saying that Lee appeared "too busy defending" Yoo. Lee had commented, "Since he apologized, I think the people will forgive him."

Double Standards" People Power Party joint election countermeasure committee chairman Kwon Sungdong (center) held a press briefing at the National Assembly on the 29th, criticizing Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung for the creation of the artificial surfing site "Wave Park" on Turtle Island in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province during his tenure as governor of Gyeonggi Province, pointing out damages such as vacant commercial spaces, and announcing additional pledges. On the morning of the same day, Kwon wrote on his social networking service (SNS) Facebook, "Even though candidate Lee Junseok (of the Reform Party) apologized, he was still held legally responsible for defamation and expelled from the National Assembly, but is it acceptable for Yoo Simin to be forgiven just by apologizing, even though he defamed Seol Nanyeong?"

Kwon continued, "Contrary to candidate Lee Jaemyung's claim, former Minister Yoo Simin did not apologize to Seol Nanyeong; he only said his 'expression was excessive.' Instead, he offered a bizarre excuse called an 'intrinsic approach.' This is not only sophistry that misleads the public, but also a second round of mockery disguised as an explanation."

He added, "Candidate Lee Jaemyung subtly shifted responsibility by suggesting Yoo Simin's remarks were because of Seol Nanyeong. But wasn't candidate Lee Junseok's comment during the TV debate actually prompted by the obscene comments posted by Lee Jaemyung's own son?"

Kwon stated, "Candidate Lee Jaemyung's sophistry once again proves the double-standard DNA of the left-wing forces, who never admit to any wrongdoing within their own camp," and criticized, "If Lee Jaemyung becomes president, it will be the return of the Moon Jaein double-standard administration."

He went on to say, "The only choice that can prevent the return of a double-standard administration is candidate Kim Moonsu, number 2 on the ballot. I earnestly ask everyone to come out and vote for candidate Kim Moonsu in the main election on June 3."

Previously, on May 28, writer Yoo had said on YouTube about Seol Nanyeong, "The position of being the spouse of a major party's presidential candidate is simply not a place Seol Nanyeong could ever reach in her life. So, 'she's not in her right mind'?that's what I meant."

As the controversy grew, Yoo stated, "It was my fault that my expression was harsh." In response to the controversy, candidate Lee said, "It appears to have been an inappropriate expression," but added, "Since he apologized, I think our people will forgive him."
