Focusing on Unique Features of Each High School
Registration for 400 Participants Opens on June 4, First-Come, First-Served
Songpa-gu, Seoul will hold a high school admissions information session for parents of local middle school students at the district office’s main auditorium at 10 a.m. on June 19.
This session has been organized to help parents proactively prepare for the revised 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test and to alleviate concerns of those whose children are about to enter high school. The district plans to provide a mid- to long-term roadmap for college admissions to help reduce parents' worries about the process.
This is the second session being held this year, with the theme of “High School Admission.” Yoon Min, director of Yoon&Go Admissions Consulting, will lead the lecture, covering a range of topics over two hours, including understanding high school selection, characteristics of local high schools, and preparation for the 2028 college entrance process. The session will particularly focus on addressing parents’ questions regarding the high school credit system.
At last year’s session held in May, more than 400 parents attended, and the satisfaction rate reached 98%. Participants commented that “the direction for high school selection became clearer” and “understanding of the 2028 system improved.”
This year, the session will place even greater emphasis on the unique characteristics of each high school within Songpa-gu. A district official explained, “Last year, the main focus was on introducing the 2028 college admissions reforms, but this year, we are centering on the distinctive features of various local high schools, including special-purpose and autonomous private high schools. We have structured the content more specifically by reflecting parents’ feedback.”
Songpa-gu plans to hold a total of five admissions information sessions this year. Until the end of the year, the district will address a variety of topics aimed at strengthening students’ competitiveness in the admissions process, such as strategies for early admissions, guidance on selecting career-related subjects, analysis of College Scholastic Ability Test results, and strategies for regular admissions.
Registration for the session will open at 10 a.m. on June 4 via the “Songpa Learn” website, and any parent of a middle school student in the district may participate on a first-come, first-served basis, up to 400 people. For parents unable to attend in person, a video of the lecture will be provided on the “Songpa Learn YouTube” channel. Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Gangseok stated, “We have prepared this session to serve as a guide for middle school students and parents who are struggling with the new admissions system for the 2028 academic year. We hope it will help families develop successful high school admissions strategies, and the district will actively support students so they can achieve their desired university admissions.”
