Preliminary Applications for the 3rd Mungyeong Trot Song Festival Now Open

The 3rd Mungyeong Trot Song Festival, co-hosted by North Gyeongsang Province and Mungyeong City and organized by the World Confucianism Cultural Foundation, has officially begun its schedule, with preliminary applications opening on June 2.

The Mungyeong Trot Song Festival is a nationwide trot music competition, now in its third year since its inaugural event in 2023. With top-level prize money and fair judging, the festival serves as a platform for discovering talented newcomers and as a gateway for aspiring major artists.

Applications will be accepted until June 30 and can be submitted via a QR code available on the World Confucianism Cultural Foundation website. Any Korean citizen can participate, regardless of age, region, or genre.

In the previous, second festival, around 700 teams competed, showcasing intense competition among trot talents from across the country. This year, the first round of preliminaries will be held from July 11 to 13 at the Mungyeong Arts Center Grand Theater, and those who pass will advance to the second round on July 19, after which the finalists will be narrowed down to 10 teams.

The final stage will take place on August 23 at the Yeonggang Sports Park in Mungyeong. In addition to performances by the finalists, there will also be celebratory stages by popular singers such as Park Jihyun and Jeon Yujin, as well as a special performance by Yoon Jinwoo, the winner of the 2nd festival.

Mungyeong Mayor Shin Hyunkook stated, "I hope the Mungyeong Trot Song Festival becomes a stage that showcases the passion and talent of everyone who loves music, and creates meaningful memories for both citizens and visitors."
