Gwangju University announced on May 31 that it recently signed a mutual cooperation agreement with four local governments in Mongolia, promising excellent talent exchange and inter-institutional cooperation.

The signing ceremony took place on May 30 in the conference room on the 6th floor of the administration building at Gwangju University. The event was attended by President Kim Dongjin of Gwangju University, faculty members, Tumurkhuyag, Minister of Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia, Bat-Ergil, Mayor of Mandalgovi City in Dundgovi Aimag, as well as the mayors of the four local governments and about 20 other participants.

According to the agreement, Gwangju University and the four Mongolian local governments (Mandalgovi City in Dundgovi, Baruun-Urt City in Sukhbaatar, Chinggis City in Khentii, and Choibalsan City in Dornod) will implement joint school operation programs for talent development (mutual degree recognition 2+2, 3+1), Korean language education and other joint educational programs, as well as short-term training projects.

In addition, the parties agreed to support cooperative exchange activities such as mutual visits and educational initiatives, as well as summer camps and Sejong Hakdang programs. They will also promote regular student exchanges through language training and student exchange programs.

Furthermore, they pledged to continue strong cooperation on mutually agreed matters, including exchanges among professors, researchers, and staff. The aim is to promote mutual understanding between Korea and Mongolia, attract outstanding international students, and expand employment opportunities.

President Kim Dongjin stated, "I express my utmost trust in the significant visit of distinguished guests who lead Mongolia's national administration and are responsible for the administration of each local government," and emphasized, "We will do our best to ensure that Gwangju University becomes a top-priority partner in education, industry, and culture within Mongolia's national vision."

Tumurkhuyag, Minister of Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia, said, "With this agreement, I have high expectations that Mongolian youth will have broader and deeper opportunities to study in Korea. I am grateful that Mongolian youth, who admire Korea because of their love for K-pop and Korean idols, will now have the chance to learn new technologies and culture in Gwangju University's advanced educational environment."
