The participating communities include three new organizations?Narae Metro City Shopping Center Merchants Association, Yangsan Youth Street Operations Committee, and Pyeongsan-dong Food Alley Merchants Association?as well as one organization in the growth support category, the Obong Cheongnyong-ro Merchants Association.
The “Alley Commercial Area Revitalization Support Project” selected a total of four alley commercial area communities for implementation. Three communities were chosen at the end of April through an open call and expert evaluation process that began in March, and one additional community was selected in May.
On May 30, the city held an orientation, during which the project details for each participating community were specified. Moving forward, the city plans to support the growth of alley commercial area communities through capacity-building training, joint marketing, and small-scale environmental improvement projects.
An official from Yangsan City stated, “We hope that this project will inject new vitality into alley commercial areas that are struggling due to the economic downturn, and serve as an opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of local small business owners and alley commercial areas. We will continue to actively develop and promote various initiatives in partnership with these commercial areas. We ask for the interest and participation of citizens to help promote consumption in alley commercial areas.”
