Jeong Gi Myung, mayor of Yeosu in South Jeolla Province, has launched an active campaign to encourage citizens to vote ahead of the 21st presidential election, which will be held on June 3.
On the morning of May 30, Mayor Jeong held an 'emergency executive meeting to encourage voting' in the situation room. He stated, "I hope you will actively encourage citizens to exercise their precious right to vote," and urged the executives to do their utmost until the end so that Yeosu City can achieve the highest voter turnout in the country.
Meanwhile, on May 27, Yeosu City visited Yeosu Technical High School to encourage first-time voters to participate in the election. The city has also taken the lead in promoting fair elections and increasing voter turnout by launching a 'voting participation SNS challenge' and holding 'pre-election town and township head inspection meetings,' among other initiatives.
