110 Billion Won to Be Invested Over Five Years
Full-Scale Launch of Regional Innovation Ecosystem
Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) held the launch ceremony for the RISE project team at the Munchang Hall on campus on May 30, officially embarking on efforts to foster regionally-driven talent and establish an innovation ecosystem.
The event was attended by Choi Jaewon, President of Busan National University, as well as representatives from Busan Metropolitan City, Busan RISE Innovation Institute, Busan Institute, and officials from partner universities in the region (Dongseo University, Pukyong National University, Dong-A University, Kyungsung University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and Busan University of Foreign Studies), all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to building a university support system centered on regional innovation.
In his welcoming remarks, President Choi Jaewon stated, "Busan National University will lead regional innovation based on close partnerships with cooperating institutions, and will contribute to realizing Busan as a global hub city by creating a virtuous cycle in which young people and industries grow together."
Starting this year, Busan National University plans to invest a total of 110 billion won over five years to cultivate convergent talent specialized in Busan's strategic industries, including future mobility, power semiconductors for extreme environments, and AI-based digital technology.
The university also aims to accelerate the establishment of the "Busan Shared University System," which facilitates the sharing of educational resources among local universities, and to strengthen industry-academia-research collaboration by operating customized educational programs for companies, thereby solidifying the "Busan-style RISE model."
