Only the Artwork Revealed, No Location? ... Banksy's New Piece Sparks 'Location Hunt' Craze

"Speculation That It May Be in Marseille, Southern France"
"Banksy Posts Two Artworks on Instagram"

The latest graffiti art by the faceless artist Banksy has been unveiled, sparking curiosity as the location remains undisclosed.

The BBC reported, "Banksy posted a photo of an artwork on social media featuring a lighthouse painted on a beige wall, along with the phrase 'I want to be what you saw in me.'" The report highlighted the intrigue surrounding the piece.

The BBC added, "While the shadow appears to be painted, the lighthouse creates an illusion on an otherwise ordinary street." The report also noted, "On social media, there is speculation that this artwork might be hidden in Marseille, in the south of France."

The second artwork made public depicts two people walking a dog. Another piece circulating online shows a blurry figure riding a scooter in front of the artwork. Along the wall, there is a graffiti tag that appears to read 'Yaze.' This tag matches one used by Canadian graffiti artist Marco The Polo.

Banksy primarily reveals his works through his Instagram account. The BBC noted, "Banksy's works are imbued with political messages," and reported that his previous pieces have addressed topics such as immigration, the war in Ukraine, and homelessness. The report continued, "Some works have ambiguous meanings," citing as an example the animal-themed pieces displayed across London last summer. In August last year, Banksy unveiled animal murals in various locations throughout London, featuring goats, elephants, monkeys, wolves, pelicans, cats, and rhinoceroses. However, among these, the mural depicting a wolf on a satellite dish became controversial when it was stolen by masked individuals shortly after its unveiling.

Meanwhile, the anonymous artist Banksy continues to leave murals carrying messages around the world. In 2018, Banksy's work 'Girl with Balloon' drew global attention when, immediately after being sold for 1.04 million pounds (approximately 1.6 billion won) at Sotheby's auction in the UK, it was shredded by a remote-controlled device hidden in the frame.
