Focus on Mid- to Long-Term Wildfire Recovery
and Revitalization of the Local Economy
On May 29, Yeongyang County (Governor Oh Dochang) finalized the second supplementary budget for 2025 at the 304th temporary session of the Yeongyang County Council, with the total budget exceeding 500 billion won for the first time in the county's history.
The scale of the second supplementary budget increased by 66 billion won from the original budget to 516.7 billion won. While the first supplementary budget focused on proactive response to large-scale wildfire damage recovery, this supplementary budget prioritizes implementing mid- to long-term recovery plans and revitalizing the local economy.
In addition, a financial foundation has been established to address various current county administrative tasks.
By major project, the county allocated 10.6 billion won for the restoration of private and public facilities, 5.1 billion won for recovery in agriculture and forestry, and 2 billion won for disaster and emergency reserves to ensure systematic wildfire recovery. To boost the local economy and improve residents' convenience, the budget also includes 5.8 billion won for small-scale resident-requested projects, 4.2 billion won for crop disaster insurance premiums, 3 billion won for integrated rural water supply development, and 1.6 billion won for the rural central area revitalization project.
Governor Oh Dochang stated, "This supplementary budget is focused on quickly normalizing residents' lives and revitalizing the local economy," adding, "Although we face financial challenges such as a decrease in local allocation tax and unprecedented wildfire damage, we will do our utmost to manage finances responsibly and turn this crisis into an opportunity."
