On May 30, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government held an information session regarding the standard approval criteria for logistics warehouse construction and its plan to prevent excessive proliferation.
The session was attended by officials responsible for permits related to construction and development activities from seven regions: Yongin, Hwaseong, Seongnam, Pyeongtaek, Gwangju, Icheon, and Yeoju.
The main topics covered included: an explanation of the purpose and specific measures of Gyeonggi Province's plan to prevent the excessive proliferation of logistics warehouses; a detailed explanation of the standard approval guideline; and ways to utilize these guidelines in the review process of the provincial and municipal urban planning committees, as well as in the enactment and revision of municipal urban planning ordinances.
In particular, to enhance practical applicability, the session focused on the detailed aspects of the standard approval guideline, and a Q&A session was held to actively gather and communicate field opinions.
Following this session, Gyeonggi Province will also hold information sessions for the western and northern regions in June.
Upon completion of this training, Gyeonggi Province plans to recommend the use of the guidelines and the enactment or revision of municipal urban planning ordinances. The province expects that municipal officials will better understand and empathize with the purpose of establishing the standard approval guideline and the plan to prevent excessive proliferation.
Additionally, since many municipalities currently lack urban planning ordinances regulating logistics warehouses, and those that do have such ordinances each have different standards, the province believes that this initiative will help prevent issues such as construction suspensions by developers, which can occur due to unforeseen increases in civil complaints and other reasons.
