Four locations, including Siheung, have been selected as sites for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Cluster Development Project.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the Gyeonggi Institute of Science and Technology Promotion announced on May 30, 2025, that four areas?Siheung, Bucheon, Hanam, and Uijeongbu?have been finalized as the sites for the "2025 Gyeonggi AI Innovation Cluster Development Project," in addition to the previously planned locations of Pangyo and Seongnam General Industrial Complex (Hi-Tech Valley).
The Gyeonggi AI Innovation Cluster Development Project is being promoted with the following core objectives: establishing an AI-based industrial ecosystem, creating customized startup incubation spaces for cities and counties, and supporting the AI transformation of key industries.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government selected four locations out of the ten regions that applied, following presentation evaluations and on-site inspections. The selection was based on criteria such as the suitability of the space, willingness to provide administrative and financial support and cooperation, and the expected impact of the cluster.
In the selected areas, integrated online and offline workspaces with smart office environments will be established. These will be linked with global AI startup programs and the Industrial Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) support project.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government plans to promote the AI transformation of competitive local industries through the AI Innovation Clusters, establish infrastructure for the growth of AI-based startups, and support both the enhancement of AI competitiveness and the activation of the AI ecosystem.
Kim Kibyung, Director of AI at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "The Gyeonggi AI Innovation Cluster will become an important hub where regionally specialized technologies and companies meet AI to create synergy. We will build an AI industrial ecosystem with global competitiveness through systematic support centered on the selected regions."
