As of 3 p.m. on May 30, the second day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, voter turnout stood at 28.86% in Daejeon, 34.60% in Sejong, 27.73% in South Chungcheong Province (Chungnam), and 29.06% in North Chungcheong Province (Chungbuk).


In particular, Sejong's turnout was 4.63 percentage points higher than the national average of 29.97%. However, it was 1.21 percentage points lower than the 35.81% recorded at the same time during the previous 20th presidential election.


According to the National Election Commission, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on this day, 358,706 out of 1,241,882 eligible voters in Daejeon participated in early voting.


The early voting rate in Daejeon was 28.86%, which is 1.28 percentage points lower than the 30.14% recorded at the same time during the previous presidential election.


In Sejong, 104,447 out of 307,067 eligible voters participated, resulting in an early voting rate of 34.60%. This was the highest early voting rate in the Chungcheong region, and the fourth highest nationwide after South Jeolla Province (50.58%), North Jeolla Province (47.26%), and Gwangju (46.08%).


The early voting rate in Chungbuk was 29.06%. Out of a total of 1,379,142 eligible voters in Chungbuk, 426,745 cast their ballots. This marks a decrease of 1.52 percentage points from the 30.58% (417,441 voters) recorded at the same time during the 20th presidential election.


By city and county within the province, Boeun County had the highest early voting rate at 38.85%, followed by Goesan County (37.76%), Yeongdong County (37.40%), Okcheon County (36.52%), and Danyang County (35.42%). Cheongwon District in Cheongju City recorded the lowest rate at 24.02%.


In Chungnam, as of 3 p.m., 510,034 out of 1,839,339 eligible voters had cast their ballots, resulting in a cumulative early voting rate of 27.73%.


This is 2.24 percentage points lower than the national cumulative early voting average of 29.97% at the same time, and 1.54 percentage points lower than the cumulative rate (29.27%) recorded in the same region during the 20th presidential election.


The region with the highest cumulative early voting rate was Cheongyang County at 34.21%, followed by Seocheon County at 33.40% and Gyeryong City at 32.75%.


The lowest rate was recorded in Seobuk District, Cheonan City, at 23.55%. Next were Asan City at 24.56% and Dongnam District, Cheonan City, at 24.99%.


Early voting will continue until 6 p.m. today. Eligible voters can participate in early voting at any polling station nationwide, regardless of their registered address, as long as they bring valid identification.
