Kim Yongtae: "Kim Moonsoo and Lee Junseok Can Win Together in Three-Way Race... Will Stop Lee Jaemyung's Dictatorship"

Unification: "Discussions Can Take Place Anytime, but the Situation Is Not Easy"
Controversy over Lee Junseok's Remarks... "What Must Be Faced Is the Hypocritical Response of the Democratic Party"

Kim Yongtae, chairman of the People Power Party emergency response committee, stated on the 30th, "There is a way for the Reform Party and Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, to win together in a three-way race," adding, "We will win together to stop Lee Jaemyung's dictatorship."

After Kim Moonsoo's campaign rally, Kim Yongtae held a press conference at Cheongpyeong Clock Tower Square in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, and commented on the possibility of unification with Lee Junseok, the Reform Party presidential candidate, saying, "I believe discussions can take place at any time, but realistically, the situation is not easy."

Regarding the effective breakdown of unification with Lee Junseok, he said, "It was a desperate outcry from citizens who wanted to stop someone from ruling as a dictator, so I feel regretful that the Reform Party did not respond."

Nevertheless, he emphasized, "Kim Moonsoo and Lee Junseok can stop Lee Jaemyung's dictatorship together," and "In a three-way race, the two of them can win together."

Kim Yongtae also said, "Kim Moonsoo will further accelerate his expansion toward the center," adding, "Many moderate citizens who watched the recent TV debate are likely to find themselves in a situation where they have no choice but to vote for Kim Moonsoo. I believe they will vote strategically."

Regarding criticism that the effectiveness of unification has diminished as it is the second day of early voting, he replied, "The call for unification was never a political maneuver by the People Power Party," and "There was a desperate outcry from many citizens asking us to stop Lee Jaemyung's dictatorship."

On the controversy over Lee Junseok's remarks, Kim Yongtae said, "Many people probably felt uncomfortable with the way he expressed himself," but pointed out, "Regardless of the controversy, what we must focus on is not the form of the remarks, but the hypocritical response of the Democratic Party to them."

He criticized the comments made by writer Yoo Simin in a YouTube video released on the 28th, in which Yoo referred to Mrs. Seol Nanyeong by saying, "Kim Moonsoo, as a 'hakchul' worker, a worker who was formerly a university student, married a 'real worker' (Mrs. Seol)." Kim Yongtae called this "a typical behavior of progressive hypocrites." He went on to say, "Is there any special qualification required to be the First Lady of Korea?" and strongly criticized it as "discrimination based on educational background and discrimination against labor activism."
