The Korea Software Industry Association announced on May 30 that it will change its name to the 'Korea Artificial Intelligence·Software Industry Association (KOSA)'. KOSA held an extraordinary general meeting on May 26, and finalized the name change after amending its articles of association.

KOSA explained that this name change is intended to respond to the demands of the era for accelerating artificial intelligence transformation (AX) across all industries. The association also expressed its intention to strengthen its identity as a convergence industry of artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW), and to become the leading private organization representing the AI sector in the industry.

With this name change, KOSA will expand its functions to encompass the entire spectrum of AI convergence industries, including AI semiconductors, cloud, and data. While maintaining its legal status as a statutory organization under the Software Promotion Act, KOSA plans to solidify its position as the representative private organization in the AI industry.

To this end, KOSA has presented action plans such as ▲AI policy cooperation and institutional improvement ▲support for AI transformation across all industries ▲development of AI professionals ▲establishment of a global cooperation network. The association aims to serve as a cooperation channel between the government and the private sector by leveraging its industry network and policy expertise built over 37 years.

In addition, KOSA will reorganize its secretariat into the AI Talent Development Division (formerly the Talent Development Division) and the AI·SW Education Center (formerly the SW Education Center) to enhance its capabilities in nurturing AI talent and supporting business operations.

Cho Joonhee, president of KOSA, stated, "The AI era is a complex period of transition that requires both software technological capabilities and industrial ecosystem competencies," adding, "As a practical private hub bridging technology and industry, the association will support the AI transformation of all industries and take the lead in strengthening global competitiveness."
