Dongsin University announced on the 30th that it held the Spring Seminar of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Graduate School Deans' Council, where local graduate school deans participated to discuss plans for revitalizing and developing graduate schools in response to the decline in the school-age population and the crisis facing regional universities.
The council meeting was held on the afternoon of the 29th in the Global Seminar Room on the second floor of Dongsin University's Innovation Convergence Campus. Attendees included Song Kyungyong, Dean of Dongsin University's Graduate School and president of the council; Kim Hwangyong, Dean of Chonnam National University's Graduate School; Do Eunyoung, Dean of Gwangju Women's University's Graduate School; Lee Seongro, Dean of Mokpo National University's Graduate School; and Nam Jeonggil, Dean of Mokpo National Maritime University's Graduate School.
At this meeting, Park Heehyun, Head of Academic Affairs at Dongsin University Graduate School, gave a well-received presentation on effective management strategies for graduate schools in response to the increase in international students, as attracting international graduate students is emerging as a new alternative.
Song Kyungyong, president of the council, stated, "Only when graduate schools and academic research are revitalized can we expect sustainable regional development. We will seek ways for graduate schools in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region to enhance their competitiveness through cooperation and contribute to regional development."
